General FAQs

Who is Eileen Day McKusick?

plus

Eileen Day McKusick, MA is a researcher, inventor, educator, practitioner and speaker who has been working with sound therapeutically since 1996. She is the founder of the sound therapy method Biofield Tuning, and is recognized for her detailed mapping of the anatomy and physiology of the human biomagnetic field.

Thousands of students worldwide work with her Biofield Anatomy Map to locate and resolve and understand imbalances in the body's electrical system.

What is the difference between Acutonics & Biofield Tuning?

plus

Biofield Tuning focuses on the “biofield”, a subtle energy field around and within the body. By moving tuning forks through the biofield, practitioners detect and correct distortions in the field and bring them into harmony. This process helps calm the nervous system and release stagnant energy, allowing the body’s energy to flow more effectively and support overall well-being.

Acutonics® uses tuning forks tuned to planetary frequencies along with acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to balance the body's energy. The tuning forks are applied to acupuncture points and meridians, both on and off the body, to help synchronize the body with the natural rhythms of the universe.

What are the Schumann resonances?

plus

The Schumann Resonances, often referred to as “the heartbeat of the Earth” are natural low-frequency electromagnetic waves created by lightning in the Earth's atmosphere, and are thought to influence both the Earth and human biology.

The fundamental Schumann Resonance frequency is about 7.83 Hz, but there are several harmonics, or multiples, of this frequency as well, including:

  • 14.3 Hz
  • 20.8 Hz
  • 27.3 Hz
  • 33.8 Hz, etc.

These resonances are named after physicist Winfried Otto Schumann, who predicted their existence in 1952. They play a role in regulating the Earth's electromagnetic environment and are influenced by factors like solar activity and weather patterns.

Many people are interested in the Schumann Resonances because they are thought to have a connection to human health and well-being. Some researchers believe that the frequencies of the Schumann Resonances resonate with the human brain, particularly in the theta and alpha brainwave ranges (4-8 Hz), which are associated with relaxation, creativity, and deep meditative states.

What is a remote Biofield Tuning session?

plus

A remote Biofield Tuning session is when a Biofield Tuning Practitioner works with a client or clients who are not in the same room with the practitioner. The distance between the Practitioner and the receiver does not matter.

Curious about how distance tuning is even possible? Check out our video, How Does Distance Biofield Tuning Work?

During a one-on-one remote session, a client reclines comfortably in the location of their choice and connects with the practitioner via audio or video call. . The session is conducted in the same manner as if both people were in the same room.

The practitioner is able to find the same patterns of feedback variation as they move through the field around the recipient's body remotely as if they were actually there. Some practitioners may work without a live connection, but rather with intention and then connect with the client afterwards to discuss the session.

What are recorded Biofield Tuning sessions?

plus

Recorded Biofield Tuning sessions are much like remote sessions (link to remote session here?) except instead of working with a Certified Practitioner in real time, the recipient is listening to or watching a pre-recorded Biofield Tuning session targeting a specific area and/or concern. Recorded sessions may be listened to or viewed at your leisure.

How are remote and recorded Biofield Tuning sessions even possible?

plus

We have conducted numerous experiments, including peer reviewed studies, testing the viable effects of audio and distance Biofield Tuning sessions.

Biofield Tuning founder, Eileen McKusick, scoffed at the idea of practicing Biofield Tuning from a distance until she was persuaded by Dr. Karl Maret to test its effects. Their first distance session was performed via speaker phone. Dr. Maret rested on a treatment table in California while Eileen stood at her table in Vermont.

She approached the table with her tuning forks as if Dr. Maret were on the table in front of her and much to her amazement, she encountered patterns of changing tones, resistance and distortion. Dr. Maret reported feeling energy shifting in his body during the session, and after he reported feeling different and relief from symptoms. Based on this test session, Eileen decided to conduct a series of experiments testing the legitimacy of distance sessions.

Her experiments showed that the information present in the electromagnetic field is consistent and predictable regardless of distance. The same pattern of information storage in the biofield anatomy repeats in everyone; the frequency signatures of each emotion, each ailment are the same (at least as far as Eileen has been able to determine so far).

To learn more about this phenomenon, please see our FAQ question "What is the aether".

What is the aether?

plus

The aether (or ether) has had varied meanings across science, philosophy, and mysticism. In classical physics, it was once believed to be a medium, called the luminiferous aether, through which light and electromagnetic waves traveled.

This idea was central to 19th-century physics, suggesting that space was filled with a substance necessary for light's propagation. However, experiments like the Michelson-Morley experiment (1887) and the rise of Einstein's theory of relativity disproved the aether's existence, leading to its abandonment in mainstream science.

In ancient philosophy and mysticism, the aether was viewed as a metaphysical substance. The Greeks considered it the fifth element, distinct from earth, air, fire, and water, and believed it filled the heavens. In mystical traditions, the aether was seen as a subtle force that connected and permeated the universe, often associated with the divine or the ethereal.

While the term "aether" is not in our popular lexicon, the concept of the phenomenon persists, and has been referred to by many other names including "the zero-point field," "the source field," "the torsion field," "the field," "the Akashic field," and even "the Higg’s field," whose definition, “an invisible energy field that exists throughout the universe,” is very similar to the definition of aether. This can potentially explain the mechanics of how distance healing works.

As the non-local interconnective medium that unifies us all in real time, aether is the missing link in so-called paranormal phenomena such as remote viewing and distance healing.

With your intention, transfer your awareness from your left foot and then into your right hand. Notice that there is no sense of that awareness having to travel in a linear way through your body. In this same way, a client can place their intention, their awareness and their consciousness on a treatment table, regardless of where it is in actuality. It is through this same kind of intention that vibrational patterns can be found at a distance with a Biofield Tuning Practitioner’s tuning fork and modulated into a more coherent and harmonic expression.

Are the Schumann resonances changing and if so, how does that affect tuning forks that are based in the 7.83 Hz frequency?

plus

While some reports suggest that the Schumann Resonances are increasing in frequency, this does not seem to be so.

Instead, what seems to be happening is that the strength of the signal is fluctuating, which makes the higher harmonics of the frequency more noticeable. However, the fundamental frequency itself (7.83 Hz) remains the same.

We have not noticed any difference in how the body responds to the 7.83 hz frequency despite these fluctuations in signal strength.
